Toronto City Council Scales Back Ice Rate Hikes
(2 votes)
Toronto Ice Rental Rate IncreasesAfter public outrage over a proposed rate increase of 20% for Toronto area ice rinks, Toronto City council has backed off somewhat. Toronto City council is now looking at a rate increase of 5 percent. This 5 percent increase in ice rental rates does not include a built in increase of 3% to cover the cost of inflation.

That's a minimum of 8% increase in the cost of ice rental next season at a Toronto rink. Toronto families with children involved in

will be hit hard. Toronto Mayor David Miller has said a solution to the massive increases in ice rental costs will be found.
